Rainy Day

It got quiet and I went looking for my pal and found him looking out the window reflecting on the rainy day!
They are right when they say the little things warm your heart! These are the memories I never want to forget or let fade away in my always buzzing mommy brain!

68 Degree's in January

January=Cold

That is why I didn't look at the weather prior to dressing my children in the morning. Mother Nature made me look like an "outstanding" mother today. I dressed my kiddos in turtle necks, the day ended with no wind and 68 degrees. People were wearing shorts while mine were covered from neck to toe!

They are also into making silly faces. It is our agreement in snapping photos. They have to do a serious one for me and then I will take a silly face photo if everyone cooperates for the serious one with pretty smiles. Sure Ellery's pretty smiles sometimes creeps me out, but I keep that thought to myself. It is what she does with her teeth. It looks all sweet, but then her teeth are perched up on her lips and then I think of a rabbit, which should bring sweet thoughts, but this rabbit for some reason isn't very nice!

Bryson is loving bubbles! He loves attempting to blow them, chase them, and pop them. Our bubble blower is on the fritz, but has been a great investment for us. I bought it for Mason's 1st birthday party and it has brought a lot of fun bubble popping days. I hear they have a new one that can produce 50,000 bubbles in a minute. I hear Toys-R-Us calling my name tomorrow!

Let it Snow

We had our first big snow of the year while we were away as well. It didn't stop us from bundling up the kids when we got home and taking them out for some snow fun!

We have a beautiful view from our deck and kitchen. Along with it we get magnificent views of what mother nature offers.

Snow Snow Where are my flip flops?

We had our first snow of the year. It started snowing Friday night before bedtime and the kids were excited. They asked if they could go out on the deck and play in it. I told them they could go outside and play, but they had to put shoes on. They both obliged, but came back wearing flip flops. I didn't specify what shoes, so I turned them lose outside. I also suggested coats and pants, but only shoes were required.
We also were out early in our snow gear. Mason enjoyed playing out in the snow longer than Ellery. He surpassed his dress time by 20 min. Ellery on the other hand spent as much time getting dressed to play outside as she actually did play outside. Mason is now requesting "snow parties" and can't wait until it snows enough so he can made snow balls and throw them at us.

Cold in May

I had to break down and turn the heat on. Let me remind you it is MAY! We also have been wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets. And,we have been getting a lot of rain as well yet in between storms and showers we head outside to play. Ellery will be playing with us outside and then all the sudden disappears and then reappear from inside with a blanket wrapped around herself as she tells me she is cold and shivers her body. Despite the cold the kids love playing in it.

Rain Rain GO Away

Mason and Ellery get a kick out of singing the song "Rain Rain Go Away Come Again Another Day Little Mason or Ellery Want To Play Rain Rain Go Away". We woke up this morning to a cold wet and dreary day and instead of letting it kill our mood I decided to put coats and boots over PJ's and go and play. I have no idea why I don't do this more often it brought a lot of joy to all.

Bike Ride

The weather has finally started warming up to mid 50's and if we are really lucky low 60's. The good news is our snow if finally gone, but this wind still hinders our outside play. Rob braved the wind on a mid 50's day and took the kids out on a bike ride. They insisted on wearing sunglasses like daddy. Ellery is such a big girl she puts hers on herself and doesn't want any help correcting them even if they are upside down. I am glad I can use the pregnant excuse this summer for not having to pull the trailer behind me, not sure what I will use next year, but I have some time to figure that one out.

Snow Snow Go Away

Our snow is finally starting to melt and we can see grass. We have also been able to get out and take walks with the whole family and play outside for a bit. The kids are really excited to be out playing longer than 10 min before everyone starts to complain their hands and faces are too cold. It really is nice to see grass and feel spring is finally in the air. We can also hear the birds chirping which is a sweet sound as well. Ellery has her daddy's eyes in color and I think she has his sensitivity to light as well. She LOVES wearing her sunglasses, the sun isn't even shinning on this excursion, but she insisted upon wearing them. I should have gotten a profile picture of her because she takes them on and off herself and doesn't bother going under her hat around her ears, she sticks them on the outside of her hat. I am not one for forwards, but this could be one of those forwards that say you have just been hit by a snowball. Yeah, Rob for catching this picture with a snowball coming right at you, and watch out for Mason, he LOVES to throw snowballs.

More Snow

We have had snow on the ground since Dec. We are not talking a dusting of snow we are talking mounds of snow. We woke up to a few more inches today and I am grateful it wasn't 6-12 inches, but is still makes for a mess of roads, driveways, etc....The good news is that is isn't so cold we can't enjoy playing in it. We have had to look at all this snow the past couple of weeks without actually being able to enjoy it. Rob was of course was gone in the morning so I had the pleasure of shoveling, I also had the pleasure of Mason's company. He gets up before 7 so at 7am we were out shoveling and playing in the snow. Later in the day when Rob was home he took the kids out sledding along with good ol fashion snow angels. Last month Ellery would stand back and watch everyone play in the snow, but now she is knee deep attempting to throw snow balls along with any other mischief she can get herself into with her brother.

Snow Snow Snow

We have too much snow. Grandma Ellen is snowed in with us, which has been a blessing because Rob has been working so much so it is nice to have company and someone to watch the kids while I go shovel. I think we have over 12 inches for the past few days. I know my new car would make it through this, but I am leery on taking it out. Every time I go out to shovel I open the car door and just smell it since I can't drive it. Something about the new car smell that makes me smile! Hopefully they will plow our street soon, but the last snow took them 3 days to get to us.

I love that Mason is getting old enough to play with the boys next door and I can sit back from afar and watch the action, so I thought. Ellery and I were doing our own thing in our drive way and Mason took off to play with Conner and Carson. Ellery and I slowly moved over to the boys only to discover Mason holding a sledge hammer. They were all building snow caves and the 8 year old tells me not to worry. The sledge hammer doesn't have a metal head it is made of rubber. Rubber or not, I had to give Mason a few swinging instructions then shrugged my shoulders and thought what the heck.

Let it Snow

We got over 12 inches of snow this week. Schools were closed for 3 days and it was cold. The first round of storms we got out in and played. Ellery enjoyed herself until Rob turned on the snow blower and then she wouldn't stop crying. I didn't realize it was so scary. Mason wasn't scared of the snow blower at all, he was thrilled to help. Rob said he can't wait until Mason is old enough to remove all the snow himself and will remind him of his enthusiasm he once had for it. We almost staged a picture of Ellery licking a pole because she looks like the kid from the Christmas Story movie all bundled up and barely able to move.
The next day we got more snow and could barely open the back door to let the dog out. We didn't go out and play because it was blowing and did blow 3-4 foot drift that would have been lots of fun to play in, but it was -20 deg. It didn't stop Hudson from going out and running like a crazy dog with rabies and then crashing in front of the door with exhastion. Remember this is how he lounges in -20 deg wind chill weather.

Let it snow Let it snow

We got a few inches of snow last night and got the kids out in it this morning. It isn't like the snow we got in WI, but snow is snow to a kid. We might have actually played outside longer than it took us to dress them for the occasion.
Ellery and Mason were thrilled to sled. Ellery actually hung out in her sled watching all the festives going on around her. We did let her crawl in the snow and she started out happy, cried when she got into the deeper snow, and then perked back up when Mason crawled in it with her. Mason made snow angels and stomped around in the snow.

Snow and Ice

It has been bitter bitter cold here. We might have received a lot of snow in Milwaukee, but the wind didn't cut through you like it does here. We did however have our first accumulation of snow the other day of a few inches. It was waiting for us in the morning and I was able to tell Mason to go look outside. He was thrilled to see the snow and kept saying he wanted to step in it. It wasn't the fluffy fun snow it was snow mixed with ice so it was a bit crunchy so I didn't bundle Mason up to play in it. We go out on a few errands and Mason loved walking in the snow and stomping his feet afterwards. Now when we go and get into the car, he requests to step in the snow first. He is delighted with the smallest things, at what age does one stop remembering those delights?
