CARS-2

Oh me oh my on what to say about Cars 2. I'll try to keep my review short and sweet. I think I will now have to pre screen movies at the movie theater for my children. How this movie is PG is a question I will have to research. I will sum it up as a James Bond movie in cartoon format. Guns, spies, torture, bond girls, and killing wraps up this movie for young children. Not only did I subject my children to this, but we took a friend! I don't even think the children took away all the things listed above, but it wasn't the sweet Radiator Springs version we were used to! Lightning McQueen matured and got himself into some serious trouble!

Snow White

We cycle through books in our house. Sometimes we read it for a day and move on or we read it for weeks on end multiple times through out the day. Mason brought me Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the other day and it quickly became a favorite. He likes looking at the names of the seven dwarfs and sounds out who is who along with reading it multiple times. I like Snow White, but I was so tired of reading it, that I looked to see if we had it on dvd. I was sad when I came up empty handed. While we were visiting Uncle Tom's this past weekend, we learned that he had Snow White on VHS. My kids didn't have a clue what that meant, we do not have a VCR at our house anymore. He put the VHS tape in and told them they had to wait while it rewound to the beginning. He was met with blank stares, they had no idea what that meant. Also, in the middle of the movie Mason asked to pause it so he could go to the bathroom. Uncle Tom grabbed the remote and was looking around on it and then finally hit stop for Mason to go. Again, they looked at him with an intent look wondering why it wasn't still showing on the TV when he stopped. All foreign concepts to my children, which amazes me.

Lastly, when we got back home Mason came up and kissed me on the lips and then asked if his face turned red. I looked at him confused and then he explained to me that in Snow White, when she kisses one of the dwarfs he turns all red and he was curious if he turned red like that after he kissed me. Adorable!

Happy Valentines Day

Although I am away from my true Valentine today, I do get to enjoy my teenie Valentines with Nana and Grandma Ellen. I am not a supporter of the day, I agree it is a card holiday, but I don't feel very special going out when everyone else is out nor do I appreciate getting flowers along with everyone else.
We are however enjoying the Olympics this year. I have no idea why I say Olympics 2007, I meant to say 2010, I blame that on my fetal brain drain. It was after 7pm and I was thinking it is past our bedtime and we need to start getting ready for bed? That is the only excuse I can come up with. Anyways, it was hilarious watching them "ice skate" in the Grandma Ellen's living room. I didn't catch it on video, but they would lift up their legs and everything. I did catch Ellery doing some sort of a lunge. It has been a lot of fun watching the Olympics with the kids. I am not sure I could be so supportive if they decide they want to learn a winter sport of flying through the air on skis or seeing how fast they can go down and hey lets add some bumps for giggles. Not to mention sledding at outrageous miles per hour on a slick surface or hey let me hold you above my head with one arm on ice and twirl. I could go on and on, but they are miraculous dedicated athletes doing these sports that I find ridiculously dangerous. At least mine are doing it in a living room I can monitor, sure they are by a glass coffee table that they almost whacked their heads on the edges more times than I can count, but they didn't. Plus Grandma Ellen and I moved it out of the way!

Ambulance

Rob took the position of Medical Director of Transport and Children's Hospital here in Omaha and has been working hard at getting it launched. We are very proud of him for all of his accomplishments and wish him luck on all future endeavors and challenges the job brings him. He is very passionate about pediatric transport and I think it links him back to his EMS days. We were able to see the new ambulance at a health fair this past weekend. It is the first of its kind for this area being used specifically for pediatrics. Very nice and fancy. They did have a scary looking manikin in the back that Ellery wouldn't go near and Mason wasn't that found of either.
I also recorded Rob's tv debut onto the camera to share. He is becoming quite the celebrity appearing on local networks through work and cable channels through traffic stops. People just might start to recognize him.

Internet STAR as well

I just love the emails I get from TruTV. Too bad we don't get any royalties for airings or postings! It makes my weekend even more special, even if it is short lived.

TruTV

If I knew how to leave comments to comments on the blog I would answer them. Give me a few more days to find time to look that up and get them answered. I was surprised that people were compelled to find the blog and check us out after watching our debut. We have had multiple laughs over the episode and want to thank TruTV for the experience. They were wonderful to work with through email and made us feel very comfortable and special. It is funny to hear stories and reactions from friends and family. One of our neighbors was away on business and happened to catch the episode and shocked to see us on it. We are currently waiting to be contacted and offered a contract for out own tv show, the paparazzi to arrive, and discussing how this will change our lives once all this happens.

Update on the Javier Adventure

I haven't heard from Josie, the lady interviewing us with the camera man from court tv from our "u" turn incident. Rob thinks they found much more exciting things than a drunk passenger with a chatty kathy wife. I should have asked to be handcuffed, the cop was cute I should have requested to be frisked. Darn it, my prime time debut will have to wait.

Congratulations Rob

We had a party last night at Paddy's Pub to celebrate Rob's fellowship completion. We had it in conjunction with another fellow named Rob as well. The last three years really have flown by and I know Rob is thrilled to be done and I am ecstatic for him. He is no longer the peon of the PICU. He is joining the attending world and I have a feeling he will love every minute of it. We are extremely proud of him and all of his accomplishments. I know I wavered on how I was going to make it through some of his hard months and I wasn't the one doing the actual work. Needless to say we are beaming with joy for him so I threw him a party. We had a great time at the party. I am sorry to say I forgot my camera, but it was a successful fun night. We left the kids with our babysitter Lauren who will be turning 15 this month or next. She is our usual babysitter for Mason, but we hadn't used her for both of them. I wanted Ellery to be older before we left her in the evening. I am happy to report no phone calls were received and she was successful in watching them. Mason was already down for the night, but she did have to feed and put Ellery down. Ellery didn't take the bottle, but Lauren did get her asleep and in her crib for the night and that is where she stayed until 5 am.

Back to the party story...... We left the bar at 1am and I was the sober one driving us home. We of course had our GPS, that I have named Javier, and Rob wanted to be adventurous and go Javier's way home. I should have known not to listen to Javier or my drunk husband. Javier lead us into construction and as he is telling me directions Rob is telling me to go as well. I am trying to explain to Rob that Javier isn't aware of the closed ramp due to construction, but I drive forward just to show him. I then decide I better flip a u-turn or I am going to have to drive along the lake for 10 min before I can turn around. I assessed the situation and I did see the NO U-TURN sign but I decided to go for it. Of course when I go for it over the hill comes a car and can you guess what kind of car? A cop car. He goes through the light and then pulls to the side of the road to witness my illegal u-turn, sitting like a cat ready to pounce on the poor mouse. I then get in the left lane to turn, I get the green arrow and a Milwaukee unmarked Sheriff truck blows through their red light and almost t-bones us. I guess someone running a red light and almost running into you makes the cop finally decide to pull us over. The cop approaches the car and the first thing I say is that car ran the red light, not me, but then I notice a camera man on me. I immediately ask if I am on the news, and we find out it is a camera crew for the old court tv channel. I can't remember what name it got updated to. Anyways, you are looking at potential stars of the show. We had to sign waivers and everything and they say they will call me before I air, but it was hilarious. We explained about the party and how Javier and my drunk husband lead me astray. I think he got a kick out of us so he let me off with a warning. "Illegal "U" turn at controlled intersection"
