Dr. Seuss

Toady is Dr. Seuss Day! The kids got excited this morning and decorated the hearth will all the Dr. Seuss books and then got dressed for the big day. Mason wore his shirt to school, his class didn't do much to celebrate, but Ellery had crazy dress day. We put her hair in pig tails and braided in a pipe cleaner so we could bend her hair in place. Next time I will put a pipe cleaner in each strand so I have three rather than one to bend. It worked out well, but three would have been even more fun and bendy! She enjoyed wearing different socks and shoes for the day. Grandma Ellen made an appearance at her school and read her class a book.
I was inspired by a craft she made in MDO the week prior. It was a cute hand picture made into Thing 1 and Thing 2. I decided to try to do it on t-shirts, but bought red color shirts and I should have bought white. The project was already in progress so I adapted to make it work on red. They could be better, but still make me smile and I enjoyed making them!

Writing

I should get a video of Mason reading, but I never seem to have the camera during those times. He is starting to enjoy reading more, but what he really loves is writing. He is into writing about Ninjas? I think a group of friends at school play ninja at recess, and Mason is into writing books about them.
The fist page is Mason's ninja house and a bad ninja's house

We sav the dav=We saved the day

Ellery and Mason defeated the ninja and the ninja is "sad him"

Meet an author

After three years I have finally started to meet neighbors and make friends. A neighbor friend of mine asked me to go with her to a Junior League event. We had a ladies night out and I really enjoyed myself. I wasn't super excited to meet the author, maybe because I never got around to reading her book or books, but this author was fantastic. In my brief time spent with Emily Giffin I think I could really be her friend in another life. She is hysterical, down to earth, and a tell it like it is kind of gal! She literally shot the "poop" with us for 10-15 min before she started the book signing. She then gave a talk before we watched the showing of one of her books turned into a movie called Something Borrowed. She inspired me to read her books. Maybe I should go listen to more authors talk, but she was motivational and inspirational. http://www.juniorleagueomaha.org/Fundraisers/Talk_Chick_Lit/

Pinkalicious Camp

Ellery loves the book Pinkalicious! How fitting that her school she will be going to in the fall offers a two hour camp called Pinkalicious! I couldn't resist signing her up and having two hours to worship the color pink was right up her alley! One was encouraged to wear the color pink while making magic wands, crowns, and necklaces!

Ellery's Thoughts on Bryson

One word can sum up Ellery's take on Bryson-Curiosity and Eager. Curious as to why he is crying and eager to help out and sit in my lap when I am holding or feeding Bryson. She loves bringing me a diaper and wipes when I say it is time to change his diaper. She also is very generous and will drop books and stuffed toys into the portable crib we have sitting in the living room. Sharing her books is a big step, she doesn't even like to share them with Mason, she even requests to read to him. She is struggling more than Mason, but getting better as each day goes by. I just have to make sure I give her special attention.

Bedtime Stories

Nana had all the grandkids in bed one night to read them an bedtime story. What a treat to get a book read to you from the author and what a bonus that the author is your Nana.

Brown Bear

Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see? I see a Mason looking at me. It is from one of Mason's favorite books. Usually the brown bear sees a colored animal, but today he saw a little Mason.
We went shopping with Papaw and Grandma Debbie this weekend. We spent a lot of time in the sporting good store while Rob and Papaw peeked at shotguns and other manly items. Mason had a great time looking at real stuffed animals. He requested his picture next to the brown bear and liked giving his best bear growl.
