FBI-Event

Rob is now the president of the FBI-Citizen Alumni Academy. Oh, we are lucky they won't take anyone over 40 because Rob found his other passion. Luckily they have this program to satisfy his need. It did get me a date night with Rob. They were able to bring in the FBI agent who interrogated Saddam. He has talked about his experience on 60 Minutes, but we were able to hear it live and in person. It made for a very interesting date night.
On a smaller scale of important people I was able to sit down and have a fun conversation with Bob Boozer about basketball. Sure he played at K-State but he was also in the NBA. It was fun to talk hoops with a hoop celebrity!

Annual Golf Trip

Rob took his annual golf trip to Florida with his brother and nephew. I think this year was a bit warmer than last and everyone had a good time. He did come home a bit tired because they would get up early so they could get two rounds of golf in and possibly some tennis. They did go with the same group of men and did the triathlon again this year. Rob was a returning champ and was paired with a new partner this year. They played golf, tennis, and bowling had some sort of scoring system and I am the proud wife of a two time champion! I think he has a target on his back now. I know they are all trying to figure out how to beat him next year! I feel sorry whoever is his partner next year. It will be a lot of pressure and one might think they could be the weakest link getting paired with Rob since he is a strong and skillful competitor.

Happy Birthday Rob

The Birthday Wizard Wishers are back again this year!
I asked the kids what we should write on Rob's cake and I didn't prompt them or give examples! Mason came up with "Happy Birthday Favorite Dad!" I couldn't resist him so I wrote it on the cake with squeezing help from the kids. They then had to put extra red and blue squiggles of frosting on the sides. We of course had the finger licking and "Accidental" squeezes on our fingers that we had to eat!
Everyone made Rob a card. I asked Ellery what to get Rob and she wanted to get him a new phone. This girl is after her dad's heart. He just got a new phone 4 months ago, but he probably already wants a new one. He didn't get one for his birthday. Mason wanted to buy him a robot lawn mower. He then wrote this card out. "I wanted to give you a robot, but I couldn't find one." I don't know how he didn't find one, he only asked me and I said I am not sure about that and he heard it as a no so he was done. We did however pick him out the harry potty night bus lego set and a polar bear pillow pet. Hmmmmm, the kids picked those out for him. I picked out night vision goggles that I found on the woot daily deal. Sure it says ages 8 and up on the box, but technically Rob qualifies. Anyways, they are comparable to a bigger set of binoculars that you can see with in the dark, but don't bring things closer. Everyone is having a fun time with them. We have even used them to check on the kids at night for fun, along with long play times in the dark bathroom. Can't complain here about this present!
Eat the cake at your own risk. Fingers were licked when we frosted it and I am sure some spit went on it with all the candle blowers!

Find the Tiny Christmas Tree

We met Rob at work for lunch. He has been working so much we decided to stop by and say Hello. The kids really enjoy eating in the cafeteria! I think Rob secretly enjoys showing off his family! We are proud of him and all he does at work, but I think he gets excited to show his family off in the flesh and we certainly enjoy it as well! We did take the kids to the lobby and Rob told Mason he might have trouble finding the Christmas tree because it was so small. Mason was looking for such a small tree that he missed the big one. Rob had to stop him and point out the tree he was teasing Mason about! It wasn't small at all! A really really tall one!

Ugly Sweater Party

Do you know how hard it is to find an ugly Christmas sweater late in December? You can find them, but for more money than what I wanted to spend. I ended up going to Target and came across these matching t's for $5. Thank goodness my husband is a good sport and wore the reindeer antlers that I put with these beautiful t's.
It was his Transport work party, so I don't think he had a choice. We also did food that would stereotypically go with a party of this fashion. Rob was in charge of bringing cheap beer. The cutest things were that someone made sushi out a twinkie, fruit roll up, and topped with a swedish fish! Adorable. I was in heaven, I don't make the people puppy chow anymore because of the peanut butter, but it was at the party and I wanted to sit in the corner and eat the whole bowl! We also did white elephant gifts with a redneck flare. We found a shower curtain with the mud flap lady on it and it was a huge hit. The spouse of one of the nurses owns a party bus and he puts shower curtains up for some reason on the bus and he was now the proud owner of the curtain. He assured us it would be perfect for what he needed it for! We came home with the As seen on TV can toppers and a holiday Karma Sutra book. We usually congenitally leave behind our gifts and were able to put the can toppers on every one's bear, but we did make it out with our new reading materials! Oh the joys of life!

Children's Gala 2011

I didn't donate my time to the Gala this year, but I did donate some items! I was able to enjoy the night with Rob and his partners. The current Miss America, Teresa Scanlan, was at the big event and we couldn't resist asking her for a photo. I do enjoy watching beauty pageants! After taking a photo with her I wish I would have taken a bit more time to fluff and buff myself up for the night! Another highlight was Kenny Loggins performed. I am really not a fan, but who doesn't like to cut Footloose. I am embarrassed to say that if I wold have been asked on the street who sang that song I would have been speechless. I love Kenny Loggins for his lullaby's. I love Return to Pooh's Corner....Count all the bees in the hive, Chase all the clouds in the sky. Ohh the sweet smell of babies and rocking them late at night to that CD. Memories that will never leave me!

Private Island

Sandals had a private island that you had to take a boat ride to. The boat came every hour. It was a very relaxing romantic place. A vacation from the vacation. We went frequently due to the grouper wrap they served for lunch only on the island!

Mr. Fix It

I do have a wonderful Mr. Fix it when he finds the time. We have had such a nice fall that it gave my time management challenged husband more time to fix some of my honey do's! I can't thank him enough for all of his hard work and dedication. I want them done yesterday and he wants them done within the next decade. You can imagine how our thoughts and views clash sometimes, but he tries hard and I really do appreciate it!

Happy 10th Anniversary

WOW, how fast 10 years has gone by and how blessed we are! Rob had beautiful flowers delivered to the house for me. He replicated the flowers like the ones he used to send while we were dating! A journey it has been and I look forward to the next 10!

Roller Derby

While we were at the festival, the roller derby group was walking around. They were pouring beer samples in the cute little glasses, so we had to get two for the kids to use! Poor Rob, I made him pose for a cute picture and I off centered him just so I could include the girls. I didn't tell anyone what I was doing, I think those girls could take me. That is why I will never join the roller derby league. 1. I couldn't pull off the outfit and 2. the girls could easily beat me up! I do think Rob is cute along with the tiny glasses!

Wine Festival Date Night

Rob and I went out on date night to a Riverfront Wine Festival. Well, since we have had all the flooding the party wasn't on the riverfront, but it was still in the name. We had a great time! Not only did I remember the camera, but I remembered to take a picture of us together!

High Hopes

Just an FYI I am making fun of myself just as much as I am Rob! The kids are really getting into music and dancing these days. It usually was them listening to music while I dance around like a firefly attracted to light. Now we all flail and flop around, well Rob still doesn't participate. Anyways, I hear laughter and Rob singing upstairs one night around bed time. If you know Rob, he can't sing. I can't either, but this post is about Rob! One doesn't know if they should laugh or cry when he sings. Cry because he is so horrible, or laugh because he is singing funny but only to find out he is dead serious in belting out his tunes and he is awful! The point at hand is that he is singing the song High Hopes. He was really getting into it. http://www.lyricsfreak.com/f/frank+sinatra/high+hopes_20055241.html We are talking belting out the lyrics and getting down with the chorus. I have been sheltered my whole life and had never heard this song, let alone knew that Rob knew it. It is a catchy little jingle I must say, after a few minutes, I chimed in as well!
Cause he had high hopes, he's got high hopes.
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes!

Fly High

This should make my heart skip a beat, but it actually makes it smile! If she grows up to be the cheerleader being tossed in the air we will be able to trace it back to her daddy. They both love it!!!

The Floods

One would have to be hiding under a rock to not know about the flooding here in NE. It is an amazing site. While we were at the CWS, we took a detour to peek at the river. It was a moving and flowing fast. Roads look like boat ramps and farms are islands! My heart goes out to all who are affected.

CWS

We got offered tickets to the CWS day game and decided since we are on staycation to get a sitter and go for it. We enjoyed walking around the new ballpark, ate ballpark food, and enjoyed watching the game. It wasn't date night, but day date!
We have date nights planned for Tues, Wed, and Thurs. With a family outing to watch fireworks Friday night!

Happy Fathers Day

I hope Rob had a Happy Father's Day. The kids and I did a Hallmark recordable book, it turned out really cute. I didn't practice what we were going to say, we would just read the question and answer on the fly. I love capturing their voices and thoughts! Rob also got a lego spaceship, the kids really enjoyed putting that together with him. Good ol Dad pitched the tent for everyone to camp out in, unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for them to stay outside, but they were able to camp inside in the basement!
The kids couldn't have picked a more loving dad! I knew Rob was going to be good with kids when we were courting each other, but he has over exceeded those expectations and then some with the love he shows our kids!

Mason the Photographer

We let Mason take a picture of us. Funny how he doesn't know what the camera view finder is. He just points it and looks at the screen. Even looking at the screen he had a hard time centering us on the camera. He was able to center me for the most part, but having Rob on my side threw him off.

Golf Pros

Rob's golf clubs were stolen a few years ago and he has slowly been replacing them, but I guess it takes time to find the "right" club. Rob went to a golf club outing and came home with a new club for himself along with a set of clubs for Mason. Oh, Mason was thrilled to see a "real" set of clubs just his size. It was no surprise to us on his great hand eye coordination.

Our New Pets

Rob built Hudson a dog house last fall and I never took a picture of his finished project. I was shocked the first time I saw Hudson use it, but he does go into his house. Probably the unbearable NE wind that drives him to use it? It has also become a hot spot to play. The kids pretend one person is the dog and the other is the owner. Not that original, but they love playing!
