Ellery taking solids

We gave Ellery her first taste of solids today and she did amazing well. The first time we gave Mason solids he tongued everything out and it wasn't a successful first attempt. I think Ellery has been salivating at the dinner table for awhile now and was thrilled to be taking part of the eating routine. We have held off giving her any solids with the move excuse. She passed with flying colors so we will see what tomorrow will bring with it as well.

I will apologize for the video, the ones of her actually eating are too big to upload to the blog. I just learned it has to be a smaller file to be able to upload it and I was so excited videoing her I let it roll longer than usual. So enjoy our testing video.

Jazz on the Green

We went to Jazz on the Green tonight for the second week in a row. It was a scorcher, we are not re-acclimated to this weather. I also fear Mason is taking after Rob and will sweat when someone breaths on him. We had a great time and had cheese and crackers with a bottle of wine while Mason was up down and all around. Ellery laid on the blanket like a champ. Mason did pause every so often to stop and clap for the music.

Mimicking Child

Mason is starting to mimic a lot of things we do with him and with Ellery. One of our funniest was when he calls either Rob or me like he calls the dog. We give Hudson very simple dog commands, Hudson come. We then heard Mason saying "Daddy Come" when he wants to show him something etc. It is really funny, but now we give commands with a please to the dog so Mason can learn to say Daddy Come Please.

I did happen to have the camera within reach when I caught Mason changing his stuffed animal. We have never tried to put a diaper on a stuffed animal, but Mason wanted to today. I think he is getting really close to hit potty training with some force. We had just finished changing Mason's diaper when he got out another diaper for his stuffed animal named Double. After we attempted to change Doubles diaper we then found him sitting on Mason's potty chair in the bathroom.

Omaha Children's Museum

We went to the Omahas Children Museum today and had a great time. We sat through the bubble talk and the highlight was them lighting a bubble on fire. We got a big "whoa" out of Mason and he says with a deep voice and with such a vibrant feeling behind it. I need to get it on video for you to be able to get the full experience of his whoa. He says it when he sees trucks, tractors, and construction equipment quite frequently.

They also have an area with hundreds of balls, you put them in and they follow a track and shoot our in different areas and ways. Mason was in heaven while Ellery took in all the noises and action. Rob was chasing Mason all around the ball area.

They also had a special exhibit on dinosaurs. It got a "whoa" out of Mason and even a squat down and access where I should run to next before I let out the next "whoa". We did manage to capture a snap shot of Mason starting to say "whoa".

And we have moved!!

I will be posting some back logs to the blog over the next few weeks and hopefully keeping up with all the new things going on. We have been blessed to have help over the past 2 weeks helping with the kids while we dug our way out of boxes. We are officially alone in the house with 2 kids, a dog, and a cat. Oh, and the 4 bunnies that live in the yard and the small ants that have raided Hudson's food. We are currently getting rid of the ants and I think Hudson might take care of the bunnies for us! Regardless, we LOVE our new home and hope everyone can come visit us soon!

Playing in the Pool

Last week in swimming lessons Mason put his head under the water for the first time himself. We were playing in the swimming pool at the house and he did it as well. He takes a few minutes to warm up to new things, but once he gets comfortable he is off and having a great time. He splashed and jumped around and even attempted to float on his back. Ellery hung out in her bumbo in the shade while the rest of us got a little sun.

Happy 4th of July

We had a great 4th of July. Milwaukee does fireworks on the 3rd on the lake and then the local communities do theirs on the actual 4th. We went to a party at a friends condo on the lake. The view is spectacular. We watched the fireworks from the 14th floor, it gave it a much different feeling watching the fireworks from a higher view. The picture is from the deck before it got dark. You see lagoon, land, and then the lake. They shot off the fireworks next to the lake. Ellery was mesmerized by the fireworks and Mason first response to the loud boom was "all done". We took him off the deck and let him watch from inside and then he eventually warmed up enough to go back outside to hear the booms. We also made our patriotic hat at the party. Another mom reads Family Fun and got the idea online and brought all the supplies for the kids to make. Mason loved it and wore it most of the night and the next day.

I can count to 5

Mason is talking more and more everyday and using sentences. We are very proud parents. He can also count to 5, but for some reason he likes to whisper when he counts. The video is a minute, but he gets really serious about his counting at the end.
