Mohawk

Oh, the things we let go and allow our kids to do. Mason buzzed his hair to a "1" last time and when my friend Anne saw him she told me she could do it. I joked telling her she could have told me sooner and saved me $10. Well, I decided to take her up on her offer and saved us $10. She cut Mason's hair and went the extra mile for his request. Not my favorite hair cut, but he was thrilled. We call him WTM aka White Trash Mason. We originally left it a mohawk from top to bottom. The original deal was that it was all going to get shaved off the next day, so it didn't matter how it looked, but he loved it so much that we just shaved off the back of the mohawk and left it on top.

Hair Cuts for everyone

We got haircuts today! Bryson's hair is shaped up and makes him look like a little boy now and not a baby. Mason looks like he is going to enroll in the Army. Mason sat down in the chair and asked for a #1 all around. I was a bit surprised by his request, but decided to let him do it. I am just sad I had to pay for it. If I had clippers I could do it myself. We might need to invest in clippers in the near future! Mason doesn't know what to do when we stand next to him because we can't help ourselves from touching his hair and we are more or less petting him!

Bryson's First Hair Cut

I think the picture says it all on how our first hair cut was taken. He screamed through the whole process, but we managed to get it trimmed up a little bit, but now he has an awful comb over comparable to Donald Trumps.
I deny it often, but soon I will have to come to grips that I don't have a baby anymore! Rob and I tease that we should start therapy funds for our kids rather than college funds due to the damage we might do in our parenting skills or lack of sometimes. We might have to start me a therapy fund as well or I just might become a hoarder with all the baby and kids items!

Hair Extensions Take 2

Oh, I do have a sick obsession with the dollar store, thank goodness it comes in waves. I like to make an appearance when they start putting Halloween items out. This is when I found this fancy hair headband! I hate to admit it, but I bought it in pink and green as well! I did resist the blond one. So I am not sure if Ellery's hair obsession extensions are coming from her or me? I have resisted getting her a feather. When you see "older" ladies walking around with feathers the trend tend to makes me cringe! Cute, just not for me!

Hair Extensions

At one of the many birthday parties we attended in one week, Ellery became a proud new owner of some pink, green, and purple braided hair clips/extensions. We wear them daily with a smile!

Salon Girl

Ellery needed a hair cut and a friend of our told us about Concepts Salon. It is a mini spa experience for children. They actually shampooed her hair, and she wasn't that thrilled about it. After we bribed her with suckers she stopped shrieking. They cut her hair and I think she finally has a straight hair cut across the back. I would look at her with her hair down and question if it was the way she was tilting her head or if she really had a crooked hair cut. It was confirmed today that it was crooked. After they cut her hair, they styled it and gave her curls. I thought we were done until they took her over to the nail chair and asked her to pick her color. She immediately said she wanted RED. I tried to sway her with sparkles, purple, blue, pink, you name it, but she didn't budge from her original choice of red. I again think we are done, but no. They took her over to the make up counter and gave her eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. She was having a good time before, but once the lip gloss went on she was having a great time! Ellery loves lip gloss at home aka chapstick. She got the real deal and was loving every minute of it!

Tickle Tickle

I think I would be fascinated to get inside of Ellery's mind and see how she sees things and why. We had yet another naked ahha moment.
I found her running around the house nude and stopping every once in awhile and looking up to the ceiling. I finally watched her a little closer and realized she was tickling her fancy with her hair. We can use the statement whatever tickles your fancy and know what she would use to do it!

Ooops She did it again

Well it wasn't a repeat with Thomas the Train, but we found ourselves in a similar situation with Neo Tracks from Papaw. I am seeing a pattern in motorized grandparent gifts finding their way tangled in Ellery's hair.

Braids

Oh the little one is growing up so fast. One day her hair isn't long enough and the next day it is long enough to braid. Yes, I am the tard who put her bow in upside down. She was thrilled to get her hair done, she stood still for it and then went running to the bathroom to see it. We lifted it up for her to see it in the mirror and the excitement on her face was sweet.

Bows Bows Bows

I wish we could have taken a picture of Ellery's face when she saw all of her bows hanging in her closet. She was excited. Rob just gave a oh my goodness, you've got to be kidding me. I am very thankful to Nana's creative ability, and all the money she has saved me in buying bows. Although I think it might have cost her more because I don't think I would have bought this many. Needless to say we love them!
Look out, this is the first bow I made. It isn't as easy as Nana makes it seem, but I was able to master her technique. I think we will still have to rely on Nana for our bows, but at least I can now say I could make them if I wanted to.

Hairs Cut

I had a friend who would always correct me and say I got my hairs cut rather than a hair cut. He would make me visualize going into the hair dresser and getting one hair strand cut. Anyways, Ellery got her first hair cut yesterday. I thought she was going to scream and cry through it, but she sat in her chair as if it were her thrown. She didn't take much off, but did trim up the back and gave her some bangs. I of course haven't taken an after picture and Rob took the camera to work today, but she is cute in her new do. After Ellery was finished Mason crawled up in the chair and said he needed a trim as well. Collette was a good sport and fixed him up as well. After we were done Collette gave them suckers and the kids were really excited. The funny thing is that Mason woke up last night crying and came into our room and when I asked if he had a bad dream he said yes "Ellery stole my sucker." Ellery torments him day and night, poor Mason.

My First Pony Tail

Rob decided it was time to learn how to do Ellery's hair. He wanted to be the first to put it in a ponytail.
His results, not bad. It didn't stay in. So a lesson was given by mommy.
Our results together.

More Hair Bows and Accessories

Nana sent us another package of bows and hair accessories. Ellery likes looking at them, but I think she is getting immune or figures every little girl has a hair collection like this. We might be taking them for granted because we are finding a few of them all around the house and not being properly cared for. They are adorable and she loves wearing them. Nana included some hats this time that you clip bows or flowers too. She has some growing room, but they are cute and she enjoyed wearing the white hat with a hideous flower on it all around the house yesterday. Thanks Nana, you are talented and we are blessed you make us custom bows.
She also included a chocolate walrus for Mason. I hoped that it was hollow, but it was solid chocolate. We had to split it up, Mason informed me he wanted to eat the head and Ellery could have its bottom.

New Installment

Nana sent us a new batch of bows, she has now learned how to make what is called corkers. They are beautiful and Ellery loves wearing them. I know what everyone is thinking, could we really need or use more bows, and the answer is always yes. Someone referred to Ellery as a present the other day because she is all wrapped up in cute clothes with a bow on top. Maybe I should be offended, but she did have a point.

Bows Bows and Dog Bows

Nana sent us a package full of bows the other day and some of them were in interesting packaging advertising a dog boutique. I have to admit I have been putting dog bows on my child, but you won't catch me telling you which ones are.

Pretty New Hat

Grandma Ellen knitted Ellery a hat for the winter and it is adorable. Ellery likes to wear it around the house and I didn't see anything wrong with that until.... I took it off her head yesterday after she had it on for a good 45 minutes and her hair was soaked from her sweating. It will be a wonderful hat for the cold, but I might have to monitor her indoor wear.
Also, note the red mark below her right eye. She was snuggling on the kitchen floor, but placed herself right in aim of fire. Mason likes to slide his match box cars across the floor in the kitchen and one hit her, ouch! I guess what goes around comes around, because she threw one at him the other day and left a mark.

Pig tails

I am not sure when I am supposed to cut a little girls hair. Little Miss Ellery all of the sudden has long hair, I think it really grew while I was in Aruba. She used to be sporting a mullet like style, but we held off in cutting it in hopes that it would fill in a bit on its own. I am happy that I have held off because I gave her pig tails for the first time today and it is just precious. She has been touching them and looking at her self in the mirror a lot and I think they have added a prance to her step.
A note to add to the story, I came in the office to get this post ready and hear a scream from Ellery as I am sitting here. I run and investigate and find Mason sitting in the chair looking guilty and Ellery holding her finger. Whatever happened blood was drawn. I then ask Mason what happened and he told me he cut his sisters finger with the scissors when I asked him why he states "It was an accident."

Grooming

My child has a grooming problem. He is fine with you combing his hair with your fingers, but if you use any kind of utensil aka a brush, he cries and messes up his hair. Not connecting with him on why he has this phobia, but it does give us a good chuckle.

Haircut

Went and got Mason's haircut today and he was less than thrilled, but his hair was a mop. His bangs were almost in his eyes. My mom used to let my brother have hair like this and now he shaves it bald. The lesson I took from that is I better not keep Mason's hair too long so he won't shave it all off when he is old enough to do so. I don't have to worry about it now as you can see he doesn't like cutting his hair.
