Friends

We are blessed to have found the Keith family and call them friends. It is a group of 6 one can't resist! A good time is what we have together!

Did you get the Memo?

At least I know I am somewhat fashionable and have good taste? We all showed up to Ellery's party dressed alike! We didn't send a memo, but it sure looks like we did! We are a "hot mess"!

No School

We didn't have any school today so a group from school decided to meet at The Playdazium at Skatedaze! Sure we just went, but the kids were super excited to go back again so soon! Mason's best friend Sam went with us and Mason and Sam happened to dress alike for the day! These boys just warm my heart!

T-Rex Cafe

We couldn't go to GWL without hitting the T-Rex Cafe. I should tattoo sucker on myself, or Rob for that matter. I made him make the decision on if we were coming out with another animal this year. I knew exactly what I was doing because I knew he wouldn't say no to the kids and I secretly wanted to let them get another one as well! Our newest stuffed pets are Haley and Speedy. They are already loved dearly!
The funny of the night is that I downloaded pictures to the computer before we left, I also left the memory card in the computer. So when we were out eating and attempting to take pictures we figured out my forgetful moment when we couldn't capture the moment! Oooops

Sprinklers in October

Like I mentioned we have had a beautiful fall. So nice that when my neighbor turned her sprinklers on to mark them so she could get her yard aerated the kids begged to put their swim suits on and run through the sprinklers. Who am I to say no?
They had a great time!
After they were done they put their towels on the driveway and sunned themselves like lizards!

Super Heros

Super Hero's? I am amazed at what Mason and his friends love to play and dress up as. They don't give themselves super hero names, they are either good or bad guys. It appears the requirements for being a good or bad super hero is head protection, a cape, and something in hand even if it is a cat toy!

Zoo Zoo Zoo

We went to the zoo with our friends aka Kim and Ben while they were visiting, and Rob was able to go with us as well. It is difficult not to have fun while visiting our zoo or seeing something new and exciting. Rob was able to experience the zoofari with the kids.

The jungle is always a huge hit for our family.
Kim also blogged a few other things from the weekend as well. The kids playing, building, and laughing. It was a great visit!

A Great Blast From My Past

Rob answered the phone and I was outside working in the yard and he brought the phone to me. I gave him my usual look of "really, you can't take a message for me?" He looked at me and said I know you are busy, but you really want to take this call. He was correct, I was excited as can be to hear my old nursing professor Debbie K on the phone. It was just what I needed. She has always been very inspirational and motivating to me and I needed a large dose of it. I quickly got us a sitter so we could go enjoy a nice adult dinner, but not before she came and met my family.

Invasion of the Chaplin's

While we were in KC, we stayed with my friend Kim. It was nice being able to catch up with her in my few free wedding moments, and the kids had a great time. She was gracious enough to take on our 3 children so Rob could attend all the wedding festives with me! I owe her big time now. I finally agreed to stay with her if she agreed on bringing in some help. I did my part in staying, but she didn't bring in help! Ben and Kim deserve big gold stars for helping us out!
Other than another front tooth hitting accident that happened right in front of me again, the weekend went off without a hitch. I will have to elaborate more on the tooth later, but Mason is more than likely going to lose a top front tooth before the front bottoms. I better get busy making or finding him a tooth fairy pillow!
Check out her blog post to read more fun details! http://alittlebitofthisthat.blogspot.com/2011/05/scenes-from-weekend_15.html

Happy Anniversary KP

Kristin finally went down "the Red Carpet" aka the aisle!
I know the bride didn't find all of this funny, but I hope in the years to come it will give her a good chuckle, because all the seasoned people found it hysterical. The Pastor was having a really bad day. In the ceremony he kept pronouncing Kristin's name Kersten. I even corrected him because he kept doing it. Not funny at that moment, but funny now. The knee slapper was when he introduced the couple as Mr. and Mrs. McKlusky instead of McClasky! I am not sure they will ever live that one down!
Mr. and Mrs. McClasky with Mr. and Mrs. Chaplin
It was a beautiful ceremony and wonderful day. I had freighted over giving my Matron of Honor speech and kept telling myself no one really remembers the speech. Rob said I did great and after the nervousness wore off, I was on a roll, I think the two drinks Rob made me drink before the speech really helped me out! It was fun saying I have had a friend for over 20 years, yes it dated me, but what an achievement!
I have to say Rob and I did write a good toast:
Please Raise your glass to Mr. and Mrs. McClasky
Here's to your new beginning, your happiness today, your dreams for tomorrow, and the love that has made it all possible! Cheers!

The Rehersal

My old friend Kristin is getting married and we had the rehearsal dinner tonight! It was a fabulous celebration over some great BBQ. Not as good as 4-Legs Up BBQ, but good. It was great seeing her family and friends and catching up. It was also nice of my friend Kim to watch our children so Rob could join me for the evening fun. I am excited to be a part of KP's big day tomorrow! What an honor it will be to be her Matron of Honor!

Chocolate Dream Cake

Oh, I know you wish you had a friend and neighbor like I do. My hips don't like having them as neighbors, but my taste buds are in heaven. I never got the official name of the cake, but my friend Anne's husband can make cakes. We are talking fancy cakes, this chocolate dream had 3 layers of yummy goo with carmel as well. Oh, and the drizzle of sea salt on top was just right. My favorite used to be his carrot cake, but now this wins hands down.

Old Friend and Fun Trip

My friend Kristin is getting married next month so we thought we deserved a weekend away in Chicago before the big day. We already had the formal bachelorette party, if a bachelorette party could ever be considered formal so we attempted to keep our weekend low key. We arrived early Friday morning and hit the shopping. KP has always been a shopper, so we hit the magnificent mile with force. I learned about the store Lulu Lemon, bought my first pair of Cole Haan sandals with Nike Air support. They are so comfortable and make my other sandals feel like I am wearing a block of wood. We then decided to go out for the evening but keep it low key. Well that went out the window. We could have ordered better weather for the weekend, but it was tolerable. We took a cab to Cafe Spiaggia. We read that the Obama's love going to the non-cafe side so we decided to try the lower end and go to the Cafe. We sat down at our table and I am talking away when KP stops to ask what I am going to order. I quickly glance at the menu and see Polipo Octuopus, Gnocchi Wild Boar Ragu, Bucantini Braised Goat, and other things I have no idea how to pronounce or what I would be ordering. We decided to ditch the Cafe and find a place to eat on our owns. We set out on foot, have to duck inside an awning to keep dry from a down pour of rain, and then we finally make it to Carmines. They have a live piano man and looks like fun. We score a nice table order dinner and a bottle of wine and who knows how many drinks later we hit the dance floor raving on how great this piano man is, only to realize the piano man is long gone. It was a night to remember, but not a morning to remember the next day. After a slow start, shopping, and an afternoon at the spa, we ended our next day with a fabulous meal at The Tavern on Rush. YUMMY is all I can say! It was a much needed weekend and great memories were made. We have decided this should be a yearly trip!

Showers of Fun

The real reason I came back to KC was to attend KP's shower. It was fun catching up with a few of her friends and her mom. Although, we were all able to catch up the night before at the surprise party.
On one of our date nights Rob and I stopped at Williams Sonoma for her bridal shower gift. I was meandering around the store peeking at things I'd love to "register for" while Rob had her registry printed. Before I knew it he had already decided upon the gift. His interest was peeked with the word pop and maker on the list. They had registered for a Zoku Quick Pop Maker. Rob was enthralled, you could have a popsicle in 7 min with this gadget. I was against it at first and then decided what the heck, it is much more exciting than a platter. It was also quite the conversation piece at the shower as well! I think Rob is going to get one for Fathers Day from the kids!

Pumpin Patch Last Call

We hit the patch one last time today, it was a gorgeous day. We couldn't waste it by staying home because we would end up working and doing projects rather than being outside and enjoying a non windy day here in NE. We met Elon and her parents and went all over the patch. Fun was had by all! I love the fall, my favorite season! I also love kettle corn and get it at the patch, til next year sweet popped corn!

She Thinks My Tractors Sexy

Mason likes the older girls. Brielle celebrated her 5th birthday recently and all Mason has talked about was how he wanted to turn 5 before her. I explained the process of only having a birthday once a year and you can't skip ahead or say you are 5 when you aren't. I think the conversation went well and the concepts sunk in? I guess only time will tell. He now asks how much longer til his next birthday or it is July yet mom? I also date myself and give away my roots on the she thinks my tractors sexy. Being from western Kansas one didn't have a lot of choices of radio stations and it wasn't uncommon to find yourself listening to the country ones. Remember this is pre ipods, pandora, and cd players coming standard in cars. I didn't have a cd player in my first car! I don't do listen to country now, but I listened to a lot back in the day. Brielle and Mason still have a great connection and that could be a song he could sing her. I think he is adorable on the tractor.

Slide and Slip

Rob has brought a new name to slip and slide, it is now called slide and slip. Leave it to a dad to make it even more fun, it wasn't good enough to just slip and slide, he souped it up with a slide to a slip. Mason and his friend Sam loved it! Loved it so much it made them thirsty. Rather than slow down enough to go inside for a drink they improvised and found a trough of water at the end of the slide.

Mason's First Sleep Over

This might come as a shock, but Mason shared his bed with his friend Cora. In the past if you asked if you could sleep with Mason the answer was always NO. He liked to cuddle with you and get tucked in, but then when he was ready to go to bed he would request you leave. That is why we were shocked when we asked if he wanted Cora to sleep with him and he answered YES. We told the sitter if it was a problem we made a pallet on the floor downstairs for Cora, but when we came home from the wedding everyone was peacefully sleeping with no problems to report.

A Wedding To Remember..

Mr. and Mrs. Curry
Our dear friend Niki, who Rob went through residency in KC with, got married this weekend here in Omaha. She looked beautiful and so in love with her new husband. Our only regret is that they are settling in the DC area rather than moving back to NE. Niki always had a flare for dress up, costumes, and themed parties, and her wedding was no exception. It started off with adorable invitations that looked like a movie ticket that had Admit One on one side and then Starring their names and when the wedding premier was to be etc. She also carried that movie theme over to the reception and introduced the wedding party to different movies and they were dressed with a few accessories from the movie. The happy couple came in to the Star Wars theme.
We also had a great time getting together with other old residency friends. We were able to have everyone over for lunch and afternoon play and then off to the wedding. Kim and I left our kids at home with a sitter. Technically we both had one in tow, but I am not sure it counts if they are in utero? It was fun having another pregger to hang out with at the reception.
