Ellery's friends that are twins invited her to bring your friend to ballet class. I was going to pass, but their mom informed me that they were REALLY excited to invite her. She is taking twirling lessons and I have thought about dance class, but with our crazy schedules I want to hold off a bit longer. No surprise she loved it and had a great time!

PTO Fundraising
Our school used to do a walk a thon, but this year opted for a big pizza party! Genius! If anyone is looking for a good easy way to benefit your PTO, I think our PTO President is onto something! Instead of having the kids solicit money in their neighborhood where everyone else is doing the same thing or hitting up all of your family to support your child, our school choose to ask for a set donation from each family. Then instead of doing a walk a thon they did a big pizza party. They worked with The Pizza Guy and you pre-bought pizzas, made them at the party, cooked them, and then ate them. They also had a DJ with music along with a Schwanns man where you could purchase ice cream desserts! Brilliant. Needless to say our kids had a great time, so much fun that Mason and Sam had to take a break from the activities and rest on the hill!

Eyes for you
Oh, I love doing crafts especially with the kids! I can incorporate googly eyes into any craft, probably because the kids love them! I am helping Ellery with her craft when Mason says mom look at me! Nothing but smiles here!

A "Real" Mom
As I am tucking Ellery into bed tonight she made a funny statement.
Ellery: Mom you look like a real mom.
Me: A real mom, do you know fake moms?
Ellery: Yes.....Grandmas

Mason Mid-Quarter Report
Per Mason's teacher, Mrs. Farley:
Mason is doing very well with the kindergarten routine and curriculum. He's a good listener and answers questions during group instruction when asked. I am encouraging Mason to branch out and play with other peers in the classroom. He spends a lot of time with Sam, and I am encouraging him to branch out.
Sam is his good bud, and I am happy to report Mason is doing great and excelling at school, but sad to report the teacher is going to request to split them up next year! I am going to deal with that when the time comes and let him live in the blissful world of kindergarten while it lasts! Mason has moved from his favorite part about school being lunch to recess!

Bryson was mesmerized watching the geese and ducks. I let him throw some bread, but kept him contained in the stroller.

Shaken not Stirred
Start putting in your orders now, he appears to be taking them. I have no idea why we buy this kid toys? He prefers finding other "toys" to play with! Seriously, I came around the corner and found him just like this! No staging here! I don't think I could have thought to stage this. We do say he is our smartest and most independent one yet at this age???? We are preparing now, not sure what we are preparing for, but we think we need to prepare for something with him????

Never Been Kissed
I have never been kissed like this from my 5 year old. I think Rob and I are going to have to stop showing any type of PDA in front of Mason. This one caught on video is actually a PG version. The first time Mason asked to kiss me good night I was caught off guard by his debonair approach that I was almost french kissed by him. I am lucky I have quick reflexes and was able to pucker stronger.

We Got Spirit
I can remember chanting "We got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how about you?" I can chant that to Mason because the kid has school spirit! He is a Spring Ridge Eagle or as Ellery would say it Spring Ridge E-e-e-e Eagle. Our school sent home order forms for spirit wear. I initially put it in recycling because I didn't think we needed it. I was wrong! Thank goodness I learned that before the order deadline because they only order once a year!
This is Mason's Eagle Pose he came up with all on his own!

Shopping Carts

Our little Bryson is growing and so is Mason. I can remember putting Mason in the germ infested shopping carts, first with the cart cover, and then into the "fun" cars after Ellery was born due to necessity. The cars that make our shopping experience more enjoyable. The dilemma of short term peace, with the possibility of a long term consequences if a germ is caught! I think the short term peace will be the answer for Bryson from now on. He LOVED sitting in the cart like a big boy next to his brother. The only problem is Mason is getting so tall that he doesn't fit so well! I still prefer to do my shopping kid free, but it is hard to squeeze into our schedules so my 2nd choice is doing it with 2 or 1 child!

The Rose Theater
Note: Yes, Ellery is wearing an apron and has pigtails. One is braided per her request while the other is not! She is starting to get more eccentric in her outfits and showing more independence upon what she wears. Not pictured is the mismatched leg warmers and shoes!

Ellery's Take On School
Mrs. Ziemba won't let me play with the babies mom! I guess it takes a labor of love for them to leave the home center and learn the lessons she has prepared! I recall Mason having the same reaction to school. All in all Ellery is adjusting fine to school!

School Pictures

Mason school is brilliant in that it does something called Back To School 101. You have to turn in all your paperwork and get your kids teacher's name. You then go take your school photo, so we already have our school picture back! Check out our handsome first born!

Meet an author
After three years I have finally started to meet neighbors and make friends. A neighbor friend of mine asked me to go with her to a Junior League event. We had a ladies night out and I really enjoyed myself. I wasn't super excited to meet the author, maybe because I never got around to reading her book or books, but this author was fantastic. In my brief time spent with Emily Giffin I think I could really be her friend in another life. She is hysterical, down to earth, and a tell it like it is kind of gal! She literally shot the "poop" with us for 10-15 min before she started the book signing. She then gave a talk before we watched the showing of one of her books turned into a movie called Something Borrowed. She inspired me to read her books. Maybe I should go listen to more authors talk, but she was motivational and inspirational. http://www.juniorleagueomaha.org/Fundraisers/Talk_Chick_Lit/

Ellery First Day of PreSchool
Ellery was more excited than you can imagine to go to school. She wouldn't show me the love this morning in our photo? I think she was missing Mason, but she slowly warmed up to the idea! She is going to the Millard Public Foundation and has the same teacher Mason had in pre-school. I will be excited to hear what Mrs. Ziemba has to share about Ellery at conferences.
We had to take a baby doll to our first day of school, but she was left in the car over the excitement on going.Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Bean Boozled

The kids spun the wheel and he controls it so it always lands on toothpaste or berry blue. Ellery says she got berry and Mason said his tasted like toothpaste. One has no idea which one you are getting because the blues look exactly alike. Ewwww

Rob made me go first, what a gentleman. I am not sure anyone is a good option. I ended up landing on canned dog food or chocolate pudding. I popped that bean like a pro and wanted to spit it out and did! I now know what canned dog food really tastes like! Rob took his turn and got baby wipes or coconut. That would be a no win situation for me because I hate coconut, but no worries, he got to taste baby wipes. His response was it tastes like what we think baby wipes would taste like! We were proud winners of being Bean Boozled and walked away with a lot of free samples of normal jelly bellies, smiling kids, and proud sticker wearing parents stating we had been Bean Boozled! BEWARE, we bought a box and you really can't tell the difference. You may think twice before you snag a jelly belly from our candy container! Insert evil laugh! Muuuuuuuaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Labor Day Weekend Fun
Rob had a holiday off! Wooohoooo!
We spent the weekend hanging out and having fun together as a family. We hit the zoo one day and I didn't take one picture. I am not sure what is wrong with me?
I did have the camera for other fun things we did. As my friend Kim would say, here are some scenes from our weekend!
We had an impromptu bbq here a the house. My friend Anne's husband made ice cream for the occasion. It was vanilla ice cream with carmel and chocolate covered potato chips. It was divine.
We also had lunch downtown with the family. We decided to take a carriage ride around and it was a hit. Last time Rob and I did a carriage ride was in Chicago where the horse bit Mason's finger. We had a much better encounter this round. No having to pry open a horses mouth to free an appendage of my child's. I would call it a success!
