Pretty New Hat

Grandma Ellen knitted Ellery a hat for the winter and it is adorable. Ellery likes to wear it around the house and I didn't see anything wrong with that until.... I took it off her head yesterday after she had it on for a good 45 minutes and her hair was soaked from her sweating. It will be a wonderful hat for the cold, but I might have to monitor her indoor wear.
Also, note the red mark below her right eye. She was snuggling on the kitchen floor, but placed herself right in aim of fire. Mason likes to slide his match box cars across the floor in the kitchen and one hit her, ouch! I guess what goes around comes around, because she threw one at him the other day and left a mark.

That Left a Mark

I was cooking in the kitchen and the kids were playing together with the match box cars. All was going well until Mason started crying and ........

Would you believe this....

Or this was responsible.......

For Leaving this Mark above Mason's right eye by throwing a match box car????? Ouch!

That's going to leave a mark

We call Mason our wimpy white boy. We think he would cry if a feather fell on him. Well, we are exaggerating a bit, but he isn't Mr. Tough like his sister who really is Miss Tough. If Ellery cries we know it really hurt. Mason is our boy who cries wolf a lot. He runs from Ellery on a regular basis because she has a matchbox car cocked in one arm ready to unload. She rarely throws it at him, we think she gets a kick out of watching him run and wale like a girl. I call Mason my wimpy boy, but he was a champ after he ran into the door at full speed. It was another slow motion moment where you feel like you are yelling at slow speed saying Noooooooo because you can see what is about to happen, but you just aren't that quick. It is a moment where I wish I was Mrs. Incredible and had bungee arms and can reach out and snatch him before he hits the door. The red mark above his right eye that looks like a half moon is because he ran into the door while open and that is the door latch that is shaped like a half moon. Ouch! It also left a small goose egg and we iced it for a bit. He did really well and snuggled up to me, I think it almost knocked him out literally. He is fine now and later in the evening when we put him to bed, he used the "I need some ice on my head" as a stall tactic.

Stairs

If you asked Mason what he did today he will tell you he fell down the stairs and did a flip. We were getting ready to leave for the Children's Museum and was upstairs playing and coming down for his shoes. I think he was a little excited to go to the museum and came down the stairs a bit too fast. I heard the crash and rushed around the corner to see him going head over heels down. Nothing was hurt but his pride. We ended up having a great time at the museum and one would never know he fell down the stairs except he tells you.
This is also our second fall in the past few weeks. He was sitting at the top of the stairs and dropped his beloved stuffed animal and when he went to reach for it he fell forward and I caught him by his ankle before he went down the rest of the stairs. Thank goodness they are carpeted.
