The Perch

Bryson is starting to climb up on everything. He particularly likes the hearth on the fireplace. We call it his perch, yup we compare our child to a bird on a perch. He pulls toys up, he pushes them off, he crawls back and forth like a cat on a tin roof, he get down appropriately, and of course he falls off. None of it keeps him from getting back on his perch and doing it all over again!

A New Cook In the House

We have a new cook in the house. The poor little man has a few tiny bruises on his forehead from pulling up and falling down. It is hard to tell if he hurts himself because he doesn't usually cry. Even if he does cry it isn't for long, because he wants to be a part of things and keep playing. He is happy as can be moving around the house.

Real Crawling

Although I had to make him cry to do it for the camera, Bryson is crawling. He is pulling up and moving all around. He is also showing a strong preference towards balls.

Pulling Up on toys

This one is a moving and a shaking. The baby gates are coming out to try to contain him. He moved so much while I was in Chicago that he ate some silly bands. You might ask how I knew this. I had a surprise while changing his diaper the Monday after my trip. I was changing the little mans diaper and noticed something sticking out of his waste. I look closer and see that it is a silly band. ewwwww I of course called for Rob. He refused to look at it so he could use his favorite response of I can't prove it. The laws of digestion lean towards that ingestion occurred on Rob's watch. The lesson learned is that I will have to start watching this one closer as we have many more threats around with two older siblings!

Inch Worm or Army Crawl

Not sure if I should call this an army crawl or an inch worm move. He is on the move and loving every minute of it! I laugh at myself now with baby proofing. I remember reading books about baby proofing after having Mason. It suggested you get down on the floor and look around and see the world through what the child would see. I have to admit that I did what it suggested. I laugh now because baby proofing gets trickier and harder as you have more children. Rob and I weren't into legos, silly bands, leaving crayola colors on the floor, or miniature action figures......etc etc

Can't Keep me Out

Every night we do the bedtime routine and we are now joined by Ellery in the bathroom. Mason's room has a pocket door going into the bathroom. Mason knocks on the door every night and we walk around through the other door and we ask who is it and Mason replies "Mason". We then use the bathroom and brush our teeth. I am not a fan of Ellery crawling around the bathroom and we have the catfood and water in Mason's bathroom that she likes to play with. The other day we opened the pocket door and let Mason in and then shut it up and Ellery started to cry, but not for long. She is smart enough to crawl to the other door into the hallway and then into the bathroom. I was impressed by with her critical thinking skills along with her perseverance. Kids minds amaze me.

First Day on the job

My first day on the job as a stay at home mom was for the most part uneventful except I came into the living room and couldn't see Ellery. I look at Mason and ask him where his sister is and he points to the coffee table. She was up on the bottom ledge of the coffee table, it is about 4-5 inches off the floor. I looked at Mason and I asked him if he put his sister there or did she climb by herself and he responds with a "herself". She is a movin machine these days. I should have known she would crawl to that place, it is where we have books stored.

Creepy Crawler

Rob told me the day would come that Ellery wouldn't enjoy wearing dresses because they would get caught when she tried to crawl and I am sad to say the day has come. If she has a dress on she tends to just belly flop because she hasn't quite figured out how to get untangled. If I leave her dressed you can't see her move as good so here is a naked video of her crawling. She still belly flops now and then but she has the crawling on all 4's down pretty good now.
