Pretend Birthday

Our breakfast discussions are a great time. I think my kids use it as a time to reflect on the day about to begin rather on reflecting on what just happened. I can usually reflect on what just happened after I listen to them. Ellery is very persistent and over breakfast she is talking to Mason about her birthday and how today she is taking treats to school for her pretend birthday. Mason is confused and asking her about her big day and about her half birthday. Ever since school lets the summer birthdays celebrate their half birthday he is a proud announcer that he is 5.5 years old and then wants to know if Ellery is 3.5 years old with her birthday coming up. I don't think he has the concept of 1/2 down? Anyways, she is telling him how this is her pretend birthday, her real birthday is on Sunday. He then keeps telling her that she isn't 4 yet, but still 3.5. It was all too funny, so I let them have a cupcake for breakfast! Mason then asks if he can have a pretend bite of her cupcake. Then he goes on well maybe a teeny tiny rabbit bite. Please Ellery can I just have a rabbit bite? He was denied his request and off she went to celebrate her pretend birthday! Siblings, no one really understands that relationship except the siblings!!!

Love to Hold

This little man loves to be held and not only by me. Luckily it is a two way street on the holder and heldee. Mason asks to hold Bryson all the time. If Mason gets to hold him then is spurs Ellery's interest to hold him as well. Mason gives comments like "ohh he is so cute and small" "ohh look at his tiny ears" etc. I'll have to watch, I think he is repeating and mimicking what people say about Bryson when they stop by to see him. Everyone is adjusting better than expected to being a family of 5, except the cat. Poor DC acts like she is stared for attention more than normal. Mason and Ellery are requesting more hugs through the day and more snuggle time from me at bedtime, but doing really well with the big family change.

Surviving Siblings

Everyone is settling into "Life with Bryson"
I think Bryson likes the commotion and attention, and the other two sure like to give him commotion and attention. So all is good! The little man is starting to give me almost 4 hours between feedings at night, which means I can get close to 3 hours of sleep. Not every time, but better than waking up every hour!
