March Madness!!!!

Who doesn't love March Madness? I do enjoy watching college basketball and it is super exciting when your team does well. Not to mention watching MU get beat by Norfolk State Spartans in person. Plus who doesn't love watching the Spartans cheerleading squad and since they beat MU we will get to see them again. Nothing fancy but some great traditional cheerleading chants. Rob and I got tickets to the Omaha first round sessions. We went down early to enjoy the KU pre party, but we were enjoying ourselves in the party and we thought the MU game would be a blow out not an edge of the seat game. We decided to go in early and watch the end of the game so we could say we witnessed this event live! All I can say is we got our moneys worth. It was a fantastic night watching basketball. Our original seats were up high because we didn't want to pay that much for tickets. The first night we moved down to good seats, but the 2nd round game we traded tickets to get to sit on the 6th row. Trading tickets is a stretch, we poached them off the Norfolk State team. Oh, but watching KU play at eye level was spectacular. Thomas Robbins is fun to watch on TV, but he is eye candy on the court minus the tattoos.

Wine Festival Date Night

Rob and I went out on date night to a Riverfront Wine Festival. Well, since we have had all the flooding the party wasn't on the riverfront, but it was still in the name. We had a great time! Not only did I remember the camera, but I remembered to take a picture of us together!

Date Night Every Night

Mason had a playdate with a friend and his mom informed me that Mason told her that his parents have date night every night! I then had to tell her that he isn't all that far off in that statement. I told her about our stay-cation and we did go out almost every night! We even waited for the kids to be in bed to go out and didn't think they would notice, but oh how they noticed!
We had a great staycation and it is back to reality!

CWS

We got offered tickets to the CWS day game and decided since we are on staycation to get a sitter and go for it. We enjoyed walking around the new ballpark, ate ballpark food, and enjoyed watching the game. It wasn't date night, but day date!
We have date nights planned for Tues, Wed, and Thurs. With a family outing to watch fireworks Friday night!

Rockin Rosie

We hit the Rockin Rosie benefit and had a lot of fun. The theme was Rockin the Silver Screen. We might not really be rockin the big silver screen, but we think we rocked as MASH characters. Rob worked a 24+ hour shift the day before and will work another one tomorrow, so I thought it would be in my best interest to make our costumes fun and simple. Not to mention comfy. It made my pitch easier to pitch to Rob on convincing him to go with me. We had a fun night and my highlight was when I went up to the bar and the bartender said "what can I get for you Hot Lips Holihan?" It was hysterical, I didn't even have a name tag on and people said hello to Margaret all night long.
We were fashionably late so I didn't get a picture of the wine table full, but snapped one quickly after we arrived. I am proud to say they sold all the bottles and someone even asked what professional service they used to wrap them. They were a topic of conversation and turned out cute and fit in perfectly with the black, white, and red theme!

2010 Children's Gala

We went to the Children's Hospital Gala tonight. I was a bit more involved with the Gala this year, I co-chaired the silent auction. I have mixed feelings and advice to give for someone asked to help with such a task. Depending upon the day I would tell you to either do it or not do it. Do it because it is very rewarding and we will raise a lot of money for the hospital, but don't do it because it takes A LOT of time. Thank goodness we had a wonderful committee to work with. The exciting news is that we think we hit our goal and went over and beyond what was expected. It just might go down as the highest amount raised to date, and that is a really good feeling.
Rob and I had a great night out together. This years theme was "Through the Years" and instead of having a band with a dance floor they got Kenny Rogers to come and perform. I wouldn't say we are fans of Kenny, I only knew a few songs, but it was fun seeing an iconic person perform in such an intimate setting.

Band of Brothers

Our Strategic Air and Space Museum had a "Real Band of Brothers" experience. It was a once in a lifetime chance to meet the men who formed the Band of Brothers of the 506th PIR Easy Company of the 101st Airborne division during World War II. We went to a dinner reception, and Rob was like a kid in a candy store getting to sit up close and get personal with them. He was able to get all 6 autographs on his book and on the DVD set. They also had a C-47 from the WWII era that we were able to step inside and see where these men jumped from. I am not near the history buff that Rob is, but I was amazed by the experience and honored to be in their company.

Elton John and Billy Joel

ICONIC. I forgot to post this a few weeks ago, but Rob got us tickets to the Elton John/Billy Joel concert. It was fabulous. We have downloaded most of the songs and have been grooving away to the hits. I thought I would enjoy Elton more than Billy, but I was wrong. Elton performed for us, but Billy interacted and performed. Billy was much more showy and personable and talked to the audience between songs where Elton just played one song right after the other and never acknowledged the audience. It was amazing to see and I would highly recommend seeing the show if you get a chance.
We also made some friends at the show. we were going to our seats we had to walk through a few people because we came in from the wrong side. I guess I should clarify and say Rob made a friend. The female pictured here groped him as we walked by. Oooo la la! We of course forgot to take the camera in so we took pictures on Rob's phone. I pretended to be taking pictures of the concert but faced the camera backwards to catch the perpetrator, but I think her husband was onto me!

Date Night

I know I said I was going to take Rob to the rock wall on our next date night, but instead I took him to the Funny Bone Comedy Club. One of our neighbors had a coupon that brought a $14 ticket show down to $2 a ticket. What a deal, more like a steal. We had a great time and 10 of our neighbors went as well. It was a hypnotic show. I was skeptical in what he could make them do, but it was very comical. Afterwards we went to a reverse happy hour at a club called Prestige and ate sushi. It was good, but my favorite is eel and they didn't have any on the menu. I sulked away my sorrows on the dance floor making up moves and dancing with friends while making new ones.
