Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone sleeps as good as this one can through the fireworks!
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did! Happy 4th of July!

Ice Cream Social and Bike Parade

Our neighborhood puts on a 4th of July Parade followed by an ice cream social. The torch has been passed to the Chaplin family to host! We decorated the kids bikes and Rob walked the circle with them, while I got the ice cream social ready. I think everyone enjoyed themselves after 2.5 huge tubs of ice cream consumed and served.

Fireworks go Bang

Although this year isn't met with scared tears, they still aren't huge fans of the loud noises of fireworks. They do however like watching and lighting them this year!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!!!!
A great day for celebration!

I found coordinating outfits for the 4th and fell in love. Once this baby comes I want to find everyone matching pj's, that is my absolute favorite. For some reason I find it adorable to be in matching pjs.

Fireworks

We invited a few friends over to light off some fireworks for the 4th a day early because it is supposed to rain tomorrow. Everyone had a lot of fun. The big bangs didn't send my kids running for the house this year, but Mason requested ear plugs. Rob came out with his shooting ear protection and Mason was in heaven. He helped light a few fireworks and really loved the roman candles. Ellery was still a bit leery, but she enjoyed watching them sitting on my lap.
Sparklers were a big hit.
Our friend Anne made home made ice cream and popsicles for the kids. The ice cream was phenomenal and the kids loved the popsicles. Ellery really enjoyed hers, I was at least smart enough to strip her down, but she still made a bigger mess than I anticipated.

R-U-N

Mason finally warmed up to smoke bombs and no we didn't let him light them on his own. The lighter he has is out of juice and he was having fun pretending to light them and we were having fun with Ellery telling her to run and get back.

Happy 4th of July

We made the same hats we did last year and enjoyed wearing them in our neighborhood parade. Our parade was at 10 am and ended with an ice cream social. Ellery isn't that into ice cream, and Mason isn't either. He is however into the toppings. We got our ice cream and added some mini chocolate chips and mini M&Ms. I got us all settled into eating our treats and got to talking and notice Mason is missing and then he is walking back to me with his same bowl of ice cream with more topping added. He ate off his first round of toppings with a bit of ice cream and went back for more.
We shot off fire works last night with some friends and were prepared to keep Mason up late for them. We didn't prepare for him being scared to death and requesting to go to sleep himself. He kept walking to the door and requesting to "go take a nap". He never says it's time for bed, but it's time for a nap whether it is a true nap time or bedtime. Poor thing was scared of snap pops. He did warm up to snakes and smoke bombs eventually. We could call our 4th of July the year of the snakes like a Chinese year.
Rob surprised Ellery with a popping fire works and it scared her into the house as well. She didn't mind everything like Mason, she was fine and would look at him. I think if she was talking she would have asked him what the big deal was.
Poor dad had a sack full of things to light off, he was like a kid in a candy store at the fire works stand. I can only imagine what we will come home with in the years to come as the kids age, I will have 3 gleeful shoppers that I will have to attempt to keep on a fire works budget.
